This is a true hard rock masterpiece written and featured by very competent composer and musicians that still writing many important chapters in the history of the rock'n roll along their own careers. Ken Hensley gives to the public a conceptual and almost auto-biographic album that contains too much more than just good hard rock. This is an album with soul, with a tough message for those who are ought to become a professional musician, with a story that was real for many musicians in the 70's. Without exaggeration, the whole album is just perfect. While I was reading its booklet I could easily realize the author's sincerity in each word of its prologue. It's a very beautiful musical work that deserves to be appreciated. The atmosphere created by the Hammond organ, by the guitars and by the voice of Jorn Lande in most of the songs, cannot be described with ordinary words. The lyrics seem to have been written at the same time of the songs because they fit perfectly one to another. The album's cover art presents a part of the message that the songs bring with their respective lyrics. The story told in this album is not the whole story of Ken Hensley as the Uriah Heep's keyboard player, but most of the album could be it. It is just like the story of many other musicians but different than others, Ken Hensley assumes that even rock stars have their "ups and downs", showing a human side that most of the musicians of the mainstream try hide or deny. “(This is)Just The Beginning”, “We're On Our Way” and “Okay(this house is down)” are that kind of songs that make you push the "repeat" key of your cd player device. The other songs are very nice too. This album was very well composed, very well produced, included a set of strings of the Alicante Symphony Orchestra in the last track and it has a very nice booklet art too. It brings many elements of sound that do make references to the sonority of the 70's and sometimes it sounds like Uriah Heep too. Anyone is able to enjoy that mysterious story written by Ken Hensley. Once again: it’s a great álbum, with a good story inside it, very well played and produced. Note: 10. |
